Step 4: Preparative Chemotherapy

You may need chemotherapy to create room in your immune system for your new T cells to expand and multiply. This chemotherapy is typically administered for 3 to 5 days in the outpatient clinic at Dana-Farber prior to your CAR T-cell infusion.

A central line is required for your CAR T-cell infusion. If you do not already have a central line, you will have one placed by Brigham and Women’s Interventional Radiology prior to starting your chemotherapy.
